Antique Edwardian Embroidered & Lace Blouse | c. 1900–1915

$295.00

A beautifully preserved turn-of-the-century Edwardian blouse in fine white cotton, richly detailed with delicate embroidery, lace insertion, and softly gathered construction.

The front is framed by bands of openwork lace and embroidered detailing, with fine vertical embroidered motifs extending down the bodice. A row of small, luminous period buttons adds an understated elegance to the center front. The shoulders are softly gathered, creating the characteristic romantic fullness of the Edwardian silhouette.

The back is especially beautiful, featuring a wide gathered yoke edged in delicate lace, which continues gracefully across the shoulders and gives the blouse an almost cape-like quality. The narrow sleeves are gathered at the shoulders and finish with delicately worked cuffs.

The fine cotton has a lovely natural translucency and softness, while the extensive surface decoration gives this piece the feeling of a garment made to be treasured rather than simply worn.
